Daniel Patrick Moynihan Federal Courthouse/500 Pearl, (1991) Manhattan, NY 7/18-8/18
GSA Direct Contract $210,000 (Bonded and Security Clearances)
"Work was of excellent quality and finished ahead of schedule. The Government is very satisfied with Woodwork Restoration's performance and management throughout the course of this project."
Nicholas S. Uom
Supervisory Contract Specialist
Acquisition Management Division
GSA, Public Buildings Service
The Ceremonial Courtroom is referred to as the "Mother Court" in that the Southern District of New York (SDNY) is the place where everything gravitates to or emanates from. The 500 Pearl building is often featured in the news as the place you see litigants walking in and out of its’ famous gold entrance doors.
We restored interior finishes that were sun faded, scratched and/or damaged/soiled. We matched stripped wood to existing finishes and shaded and blended existing finishes to restore evenness and continuity. Several “hand” processes were employed to limit exposures to workers in adjacent spaces and manage contemporary style millwork of razor thin veneers and various solid woods.
